Online
Book Club
We have created an online book club exclusively for UBC alumni, focusing on lifelong learning, leadership, harnessing creativity, communication skills and much, much more. The book club will connect through a private forum where alumni can discuss the current book and connect with each other.
The Next Online Book Club Selection
Dance the delicate line between family ties and the yearning to know secret truths in Kyo Maclear’s Unearthing.
When author Kyo Maclear discovered that her late father wasn’t biologically related to her, she embarked upon a quest to solve this mystery. While tending her family garden, she attempted to draw out details from her reticent mother, to piece together the hidden story about her heritage. What she discovers forms Maclear’s moving inquiry into kinship in Unearthing.
Join the alumni UBC Book Club for Unearthing, author Kyo Maclear’s deeply personal investigation into her hidden family history, on May 24, 2024.
This event is part of the alumni UBC Summer Series. Thank you to our presenting sponsor Odlum Brown.
Joining the book club is completely free. You just have to pick up a copy of the book—at your library, UBC Bookstore (save 12% with your Alumni Card), or online—to enjoy. The group will read one book every two months, so you will have plenty of time to read.
Plus, you don’t have to commit to reading every book—we’re not grading you.
