As data-intensive platforms become increasingly embedded in our lives, they are also reshaping how we think about ourselves and the world around us. In this talk, UBCO professor and We, the Data author Wendy H. Wong unpacks what “Big Tech” really means and why it matters. Going beyond artificial intelligence, she explores how our actions, preferences, and even values are transformed into data, challenging some of our most fundamental assumptions about human autonomy, dignity, equality, and community. What does this shift mean for the future of humanity?
