Help Protect BC’s Beaches this World Oceans Day

THE A PROJECT

Help Protect
BC’s Beaches this
World Oceans Day

Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup began in 1994 when Vancouver Aquarium staff and volunteers came together to clean-up a beach in Stanley Park. From the first cleanup, support from the program grew rapidly, reinforced by growing public awareness of the harmful impacts beach litter has on our ecosystems.

Today, Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup has grown into one of the largest direct action conservation programs in Canada. A partnership between Ocean Wise and WWF Canada, this program has engaged more than 937,000 volunteers in 27,800 cleanups resulting in 2 million kilograms of trash being removed from shorelines across the Country.

Help us protect local ecosystems by keeping our Vancouver beaches clean. As Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup and alumni UBC celebrates World Oceans Day, we are inviting our alumni and friends to join us in cleaning up a local Vancouver beach.

As this event is outdoors, please come prepared with appropriate attire for the day’s weather. Upon arrival, garbage bags and gloves will be provided to you.
