Moderator Biography
Tracey Gurton
Tracey Gurton is a popular lecturer at UBC Sauder. Her areas of specialization include organizational culture, high-performing teams, emotional intelligence, and change management. Recognized for two decades of outstanding teaching and organizational citizenship, she is known for her enthusiastic and engaging style. In 2020, she received a Special Service Award from Sauder for the school’s exceptional transition to virtual classroom education during its COVID-19 response. In Sauder’s top-rated business degree program, she and her colleagues launched a new course entitled Values, Ethics, and Community, which has received high praise. This year, she is the recipient of a UBC Killam Prize for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Martyn Newman
Dr. Martyn Newman (PhD) is a clinical and corporate psychologist with an international reputation as an expert in emotional intelligence (EQ) leadership and mindfulness. He has held senior academic positions at leading universities in Australia and Europe, and has helped thousands of executives improve their leadership effectiveness. He is the author of the best-selling book Emotional Capitalists: The Ultimate Guide to Developing Emotional Intelligence for Leaders and more recently The Mindfulness Book. He also wrote the Emotional Capital Report (ECR), the international benchmark for measuring EQ and leadership performance.
