Empower Gen Z in the workplace

Baneet Braich is a multiplatform journalist at CBC News Vancouver. She is from Abbotsford, BC, and has a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University in Journalism and Political Science. In her current role, she focuses on social media storytelling and uses creative means to cover a variety of stories, ranging from healthcare and social issues to original features. 

Racheal Ayugi (BA’20) is a talent sourcer whose work is focused on connecting talented candidates to job opportunities within the life science space. During her past three years of working in the corporate sector in Canada, she transitioned from technical sales consulting into recruitment. She leveraged her expertise in sales and relationship building to understand the business needs of her client groups and cultivate relationships with promising talent. Aligned with her passion for impact, she also volunteers with business-focused community platforms where she supports programs aimed at connecting entrepreneurs and developing their skillsets.

Jennifer Lau (BA’03, LLB’08) is the Director of Professional Resources (Vancouver) at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, where she is responsible for the recruitment and management of the law firm’s Vancouver summer and articling students and associates. Before Cassels, she spent 11 years at UBC’s Peter A. Allard School of Law, where she was a career coach to law students and lawyers. She led Allard’s Career Services Office in shifting to a strengths-based approach. In 2020, she was Allard’s Acting Assistant Dean of Students, where she led student academic support during the pandemic transition to online learning. She previously practiced as a lawyer and is a former president of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers BC.

Dr. Kevin W. Lee is an assistant professor of organizational behaviour and human resources at UBC Sauder. His research concerns the future of work and organizing. He investigates how we can adapt to this future, even as it threatens valued parts of our past and present. Many of his studies have examined how the push toward economic progress and rationality — including the increasing orientation toward technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) — has collided with existing work and organizational arrangements. He holds a PhD from NYU Stern and a BA from Columbia University.
