Love talking with people? Want to help people learn English? The UBC Learning Exchange wants you for its English Conversation Program! Located in Vancouver’s historic Downtown Eastside and Chinatown communities, this educational hub is seeking volunteer facilitators for its free, low-barrier, and casual weekly conversational English sessions designed for Chinatown residents, and immigrants and refugees new to Vancouver. Do you have artistic or musical abilities? You can also contribute through arts-based language learning opportunities. Apply today to help empower community members!

Additional Information
- Please complete the volunteer application form to express your interest.
- Teaching experience is not required.
- Applicants will meet with the Learning Exchange Team prior to being invited to volunteer.
- As opportunities are limited by the number of classes per week, roles may not be available for all applicants.
- You will typically co-facilitate a class initially with a more experienced facilitator, UBC student or community member.
- The UBC Learning Exchange team will provide you with the lessons and materials you need prior to the class.
- Volunteers are requested to commit to a regular class (two hours per week including preparation and debrief) for the duration of the term.
- Classes are 60 minutes (75 for online) and include up to 10 learners. Session times detailed above include time to arrive early and debrief afterwards.
