First Year
Representative
The First Year Representative position is an exciting way for first year students to be involved in UBC’s campus community. We are looking for engaged first years who can bring their leadership skills and unique perspectives to the Student Alumni Council!
If you are looking to build your experience as a student leader at UBC, this is the opportunity for you. Joining the SAC is a unique chance to work with UBC’s established student leaders, while connecting with alumni and the broader UBC community.
First Year Representatives can expect to:
- Attend SAC biweekly meetings
- Provide a first year perspective within one of our committees (see committee description below)
- Support projects and events dedicated to connecting students and alumni
- Connect with highly involved upper-year student leaders and exceptional alumni
- Commit to 4-6 hours per week
Committees:
- Campus Partnerships: Facilitate alumni UBC’s Campus Event Partnership program, collaborating with partner organizations on existing campus initiatives that build student-alumni connections. This includes engaging in campus outreach via boothing at key events and facilitating collaborations with campus partners. Qualifications: Experience reviewing applications, communicating with external stakeholders, and managing workflow in a team.
- Events: Create unique workshops and events for students to learn from alumni, expand their network, and learn new skills for their professional development. Past programs include alumni panels and networking events. Qualifications: Experience working in teams to create events, managing all event logistics and communicating with external stakeholders.
- Internal: Directs the personal and professional development of SAC members. This includes organizing team building activities, the annual SAC Retreat, and coordinating the SAC recruitment process. Qualifications: Experience organizing professional-development workshops, social events, and onboarding.
- Media & Marketing: Oversees the SAC’s social media presence & digital image. This includes coordinating SAC marketing and creating content for the SAC social media accounts. Qualifications: Experience in managing social media accounts and creating digital content. Passion for social media marketing.
