What’s it like to head up one of Canada’s largest coalition loyalty programs? In a fireside chat, AIR MILES President and CEO Shawn Stewart (BA’99 in Economics) will discuss how he developed his career in driving innovation in customer loyalty and rewards. Attend this winter socializer to gain industry insights —and a few tips on making the most of the loyalty rewards — while mixing and mingling with fellow UBC alumni over beverages and bites.

Moderator Biography
Viet Vu, BA’16
Viet Vu (BA’16) leads policy and research at the Dais. At the Brookfield Institute, he conducted extensive work on how technology impacted the Canadian labour market, the tech sector and workers, digital skills, and scale-ups. His research has been cited widely in national media, and has influenced government policies at all levels. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Economics from UBC and a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. A queer immigrant to Canada, he sits on the Canadian Economics Association’s Diversity committee, and co-chairs the Affinity groups working group.

Shawn Stewart

Shawn Stewart is a recognized leader in loyalty, customer experience, and digital transformation. As President and CEO of AIR MILES, he drives the strategic direction of Canada’s most recognized loyalty program. Previously, he was Senior Vice President, Customer at Canadian Tire, where he led enterprise loyalty, digital marketing, customer analytics, and the development of the Triangle Rewards loyalty program. He also worked at McKinsey & Company and Accenture, and served on the AIR MILES leadership team from 2010 to 2013. Known for transforming organizations and brands, he possesses a deep understanding of partner needs, collector behaviours, and business development opportunities.
