We’re honoured to feature the fifth edition of this family-friendly, Indigenous-led festival as part of our Homecoming event line-up. ʔəm̓i ce:p xʷiwəl—Come Toward the Fire Festival is a soul-stirring celebration of Indigenous culture, creativity, and community presented by the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), on whose territory the Chan Centre and UBC are located. This year’s festival expands to three days with a new Day of Knowledge Sharing joining an Indigenous-led lineup of live performances and cultural activities. The festival features music, dance, DJs, film screenings, hands-on workshops, storytellers and authors, food trucks, artisans, live mural painting, and more. Everyone is welcome to join the festivities!
This event is presented by the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts and Musqueam, with support from the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund.

The festival will conclude with the Closing Concert, an evening of Indigenous songs and stories hosted by actor and comedian Dallas Goldtooth and featuring Aysanabee, Boslen, Logan Staats, Miss Christie Lee, Siibii, Tsatsu Stalqayu (Coastal Wolf Pack), and Musqueam councillor Alec Guerin.

Saturday, September 19: Festival Day

Come Toward the Fire’s main indoor and outdoor festival day celebrates Indigenous cultures and voices from across the continent. Experience live music, dance, DJs, film screenings, hands-on workshops, storytellers and authors, food trucks, Indigenous artisan market, skateboarding, live mural painting, and more.
Admission with festival wristband purchase by donation; pay what you can—and no one will be turned away.
Sunday, September 20: Closing Concert
Chan Centre for the Performing Arts; 6:00pm–9:00pm
This finale concert celebrates the closing of this year’s festival with an epic evening of Indigenous song and stories, hosted by acclaimed Indigenous actor and comedian Dallas Goldtooth. This event features a pre-show Indigenous artisan market and Indigenous food trucks.
