Speaker Biographies
Diane (Dee) Mutabaruka, BSc’15
Diane (Dee) Mutabaruka works as an experiential learning advisor for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC. She is driven by a deep passion for guiding students in their personal, career, and professional development. Her curiosity, empathy, and adaptability play a role in building more inclusive learning environments. With six years of experience in higher education, she offers a wealth of expertise in student development and experiential advising. Her extensive background includes advising students, coordinating student orientation programs, facilitating internships and mentorship programs, and forging cross-campus partnerships. She brings a unique perspective to her role as a dedicated advocate for empowering MCF scholars and Africa.
Missy D
Missy D is a bilingual hip-hop, rap, and soul artist who makes music as a form of therapy to express all the feelings, share a message, and connect with listeners. She has been spitting rhymes since age 11, switching between French and English, with roots in Rwanda, Côte d’Ivoire, and Zimbabwe. She has graced stages at festivals like SXSW, NXNE, Juno Fest, Vancouver Jazz Festival, Le Festival du Voyageur, and Rifflandia, and shared the spotlight with acts such as Maestro Fresh Wes, Jully Black, Sons Of Kemet, The Sorority, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, K’naan, Anderson .Paak, and Shaggy.

Rob Kim, BSc’98, BEd’00, MET’08
Rob Kim currently works as the Manager, Alumni Career Education for alumni UBC, where he supports career development and programming for alumni. He believes in supporting the learning and development of people through career education. He is a certified CliftonStrengths coach, a professional ICF (International Coaching Federation) Associate Coach, and a proud three-time UBC alum. He was also named a LinkedIn Top Voice for Job Search and Careers.
