Mahjong 101 instructors
Sandy Gunn and Vivian McCormick, BCom’03, LLB’06
Sandy Gunn and Vivian McCormick are mahjong enthusiasts and the founders of Lucky Tile Mahjong Events. Growing up, the sound of mahjong tiles was so familiar to them, yet they were never included in the game. That all changed in early 2024 when they started learning and regularly playing mahjong with a special group of female business leaders. With this group, they organized their first few community and learn-to-play mahjong events. Their monthly meet-ups centre around mahjong, culture, and food. Through these events, they noticed widespread interest in mahjong, with people wanting to learn how to play and have a space to connect and play—and Lucky Tile Mahjong Events was born. Their mission is to be connectors, community builders, and spreaders of joy through the game of mahjong.
