UBC Homecoming 2024 alumNIGHTS at MOA

alumNIGHTS
at the Museum
of Anthropology

Rediscover the recently revitalized and reopened Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC! Join fellow alumni for a unique opportunity to hear from the museum’s director, Dr. Susan Rowley, as well as curators of the current special exhibitions. Nick Milkovich (BArch’68), lead architect for the reconstruction project, will also provide insights about the MOA upgrades. Explore the newly reconstructed Great Hall showcasing the revitalization and reinterpretation of displays of Northwest Coast Indigenous carvings, poles, weavings, and other works. Plus, two exhibitions offer Indigenous perspectives on colonial history: in Pursuit of Venus [infected] (Western Canada premiere) by famed Māori artist Lisa Reihana; and To Be Seen, To Be Heard: First Nations in Public Spaces, 1900–1965 (world premiere).

This event is presented in partnership with the Museum of Anthropology and the UBC faculties of Arts, Education, Medicine, and the UBC Sauder School of Business.
